Muringa ilaFamiliar plant of Kerala. Our delicious 'avial' will be incomplete without 'Muringakka'. Muringa leaves and flowers are also used to make tasty dishes. Muringa leaves are used to make 'thoran' and parippu kari.
Its a medicine used in Ayurveda for pain, swelling, jaundice, asthma and fever. Its very effective during lactation period. Its roots, bark, seeds and leaves are used in Ayurveda.
Muringakka with chakkakkuru is a very special vegetarian item of Keralites.
Muringa ila(Drumstick leaves) is rich with vitamins, proteins and fibres. Muringa ila juice is an effective medicine for Hypertension. In sanskrit it is called 'Shobhanjanapathram'.
