'Jaiva pachakkarikal' (organic vegetables) these words in malayalam caught my attention during our journeys from Kochi to Changanacherry. On either sides of the high way near to Aalappuzha we can see several stalls of this kind. One or two times I bought some vegetables from there. Vegetables are my favourites and its my hobby to buy fresh vegetables from the unexplored areas. But my husband is least interested in this area so these thoughts sometimes ends in quarrels.
Organic vegetables are grown without chemical fertilisers and pesticides. The farmers used nature friendly pesticides. This will protect the soil, our eco system and supports more healthy living. More people around the globe are now thinking about the organic products and local harvesting. Organic products are growing into a mega business area. People showing more interest to nature friendly materials. Reports are showing that vegetable gardening is also becoming more popular. Its a great pleasure to see the greenery in the back. I am also on my way to the vegetable gardening.
